RELA – a journey that began in the longing to be understood
RELA was not born from a business idea. It was born from a feeling.
Over thirteen years ago, Susanne carried a deep longing to be understood – truly understood. After several tough relationships, she had time and again experienced how hard it could be to reach each other despite willingness, love and attempts to communicate. She knew that much of what created misunderstanding was not about unwillingness, but about differences. Different ways of loving. Different ways of communicating. Different needs.
That was when the idea took shape: What if there was a way to help people understand each other before misunderstanding turns into distance?
She began to dream of an app. Not as a technical solution, but as a human tool. A place where people could gather what makes them who they are – what they need, what they long for, how they function in relationships. To be able to meet others better. And to be met themselves.
The years passed. But the idea never let go.
When life finally gave Susanne the chance to make the dream real, she took it. She had built a successful business in Smedjebacken, and one day she realised: I can actually do this. Not for the sake of business – for the sake of people.
She didn’t want to do it alone. She brought her daughter, Samantha. Together they began to shape what would become RELA. They sketched, thought, explored, doubted, adjusted. They weren’t looking for a "smart app". They were looking for a way to create something that could carry relationships over time.
That was when they met Amanda.
At that time Amanda worked as a project manager. She wasn’t formally trained as a developer, but she had something at least as important: a deep understanding of systems, people and how everyday life actually works. When she joined the RELA project, something happened. She didn’t just see features. She saw a whole new way of thinking about relationships.
For Amanda, RELA wasn’t an assignment. It became a calling.
Together we saw how the idea could grow from an app into a whole relationship system. An operating system for what matters most in life. She took a decisive step: she left security behind, started her own company and chose to devote herself fully to building RELA into what she saw it could become. Susanne and Samantha came along.
Since then, RELA has been shaped by thousands of decisions, late nights, doubt, breakthroughs, tears, laughter and an unshakeable belief that relationships deserve more than to be left to chance.
